People will automatically hold you in higher esteem when they find out you've been interviewed. You can contact a local radio station (even a smaller one) and ask if they might want to interview you. Plenty of others before you have used this to help themselves so don't freak out and think you'll be the first.

If you know a lot about IM, then you should focus on this group of newbies, offering them something that can help them in this area. As long as you have the knowledge, you could target a more advanced group in any niche. Just make sure that what you offer is something that they need.
